 History

I bought my first Dobermann "Nyoka" mainly to be a companion and as security for my wife at the time.

"Nye" enthralled us both with her character, her joy of life and her intelligence. She even won her first match night contest and a germ of an idea to show dogs was born. Whilst Nye was never to be a serious showgirl she introduced us to the irresistible qualities of devotion, loyalty and comedy the Dobermann gives to it's owners. Hooked on the temperament and spirit this Dobe contributed to life, we decided that we would like Nye to have company of her 'own kind' and a male of possible show quality was sought.

The boy we decided on, after much homework, was Dante (Bosskat Apollo). He instantly catapulted us into the showing arena at only six months and two weeks of age with a "Best Puppy in Breed" win at his first ever Championship Show (LKA) beating no less than 60+ puppies!

That was it, he was Crufts qualified, we were hooked on the Show 'thing' and Nye had her very handsome boyfriend whom she adored.

The debut Champ. Show win was followed up by numerous Open and Champ. Show wins and he went on to be awarded with 1 C.C & 6 R.C.C's. Such was our plans for the future we registered our own affix/kennel name "Danoka", derived from our first two dogs' names Dan(te) & (Ny)oka

From the same breeders of Dante, Dave & Barbara Mitchell, we soon added Luka (Bosskat Chaos) to our family. We had plans for her to join the show trail with Dante, unfortunately she had plans of her own and had no desire to 'play the game' despite having the potential. She never appeared to enjoy the show arena and we decided to respect her wishes.

When my wife and I seperated, Dante naturally went with her, most who knew us also knew the whole of Dante's world revolved around her. As Nyoka's world revolved around Dante it was only fair to her that she went along too.

Dante had recently sired a litter to Robin Wilson's (Saminka) "Sallate Havoc at Holtzburg" and I just had to go to Scotland and see the puppies. I left as the proud owner of Khan (Saminkas Assassin at Danoka).

"FIREKHAN" was the affix I eventually chose for myself, though the "Fire" bit was borne from misinterpretation! I was always under the impression that "nyoka" meant "fire" in swahili but on researching this I am now of the understanding that it actually means "serpent" or "snake"

Obviously the "Khan" bit comes from my Son of Apollo, which I believe means "Sovereign" or "King".

I currently live with Luka (Bosskat Chaos), who feels she's far too busy for the show arena, Khan (Saminka's Assassin at Danoka) son of my beloved Bosskat Apollo, and Soraya Vom Gebrannten Walde at Firekhan (French Import), who makes me melt when I look at her every day.
